This year’s High Holy Days have been exhilarating in many ways…watching our community gather at ACI and at our pop-up event on 31st Avenue, welcoming new faces to our synagogue for services, and getting to know our two candidates for the interim rabbi position. It has been an uplifting and thought-provoking season!
As many of you know, the annual Kol Nidre Appeal has begun. We are off to a wonderful start! This year, we aim to raise $20,000 by the close of October. We are happy to report that we are halfway there!
Over the next few weeks, we will send out updates about our progress toward meeting (or exceeding!) our goal. With 100% participation from ACI members and supporters, we can raise the funds necessary to take the next concrete steps in growing our synagogue.
The Kol Nidre appeal supports the Center’s efforts to do community outreach, hosting events throughout Western Queens to let everyone know that ACI is a warm, welcoming, and vital hub of Judaism for people of all ages and backgrounds. Donations also help cover the soaring costs of maintaining our beautiful but aging building.
To help ensure ACI’s future, we ask that you please give generously to our annual Kol Nidre Appeal. Please help ACI’s presence continue to be here for you and the Jewish community, for now and for years to come.
Thank you to everyone who has already made a donation so far. For those who have not, donations by check, made out to Astoria Center of Israel, may be mailed or brought to the ACI office. If you prefer, you may donate online at astoriacenter.org/donate.
There is also a more tax-efficient and impactful way of making donations to ACI by gifting securities (such as stocks or shares in a mutual fund) that have appreciated in value. Doing so provides the donor with a larger tax deduction and also increases the benefit to the synagogue.
The Astoria Center of Israel now has a charitable brokerage account with Vanguard that was set up for just that purpose. Details about the benefits of this donation vehicle as well as detailed instructions to provide your custodian are on our website.
May we all be sealed for a good year.
